What’s our yardstick?

As I listen to listeners chat about stuff here tonight- I’ve become aware how we instinctively ask about things we do in RELATION to things other radio stations do.

The implication at work here is that the only important measurement is to compare a radio station to radio station.  This is clearly a hold-over from our wonderful (but gone) monopoly on audio entertainment days.

Increasingly, radio as a MEDIUM is competing against other mediums.  Time to update our yardsticks.
